Millknock Farm Self-Catering Holiday Accommodation is Located Just Outside the Village of Tacumshane, in the South East Corner of County Wexford, Ireland.
There is plenty to see and do on a self-catering holiday in County Wexford, and the house at Millknock Farm makes an ideal base to tour the sights of the Wexford area. The house is located 6km (4miles) from the village of Killinick on the main Wexford-Rosslare road (N25), just 15km (10 miles) from Wexford town, and just 12km (8 miles) from the ferries at Rosslare Europort. The nearest airport is Waterford, which is less than 90km (56 miles) from the property. Dublin Airport is less than 170km (106 miles) away, and can be reached from the house in just over 2 hours.
The house is located in a rural area, and there are no public transport services within walking distance of the property. Although there is a pub and restaurant in the village of Tacumshane, which is within walking distance, it is 6km (4 miles) to the nearest shop in the village of Our Lady’s Island. For this reason we recommend that you bring your own car.

The nearest bus stop on the No.2 Dublin-Rosslare Europort service is at Tagoat, which is 6kms (4 miles) from the house. Taxi and minibus hire are available locally to collect from these points and drop at the house.
Some information about the area
It is less than 1km from the house to the historic Tacumshane Windmill (below), the only surviving complete wind-driven corn mill in Ireland. A rare feature of this windmill is its revolving roof, which could be turned to face the sails into the wind. In 1948 it was placed in the guardianship of the Commissioner of Public Works for preservation as a national monument. If you would like to visit this unique attraction, the key is available from the neighbouring Meyler's Millhouse Bar free of charge.
The eastern shores of Tacumshane Lake are less than 1km away, and can be seen from the upstairs windows of the house. Tacumshane Lake is a sedimentary lagoon with a gravel/sand barrier that supports a wide variety of plants and animals. It is one of the largest examples of a lagoon in the country. Tacumshane Lake has been designated a Special Protection Area under the E.U. Birds Directive. It is nationally important for nine bird species.
Rostoonstown Beach (below) is 1.5km (1 mile) away. It is not suitable for swimming due to dangerous currents, but it is a long sandy beach which is part of the Wexford Coastal Walk. It is also a very popular location for shore fishing with locals and holidaymakers alike. The western shores of Our Lady’s Island Lake are a popular place for windsurfing, and can also be found at Rostoonstown.
You are never too far from a beach when you come to Wexford on your holidays, and a selection of safe sandy beaches that are suitable for bathing are located within 12km (8 miles) of the property, including Carne, Rosslare Strand, and St Helens.
For those that enjoy a fishing holiday there is more than just the shore angling at Rostoonstown beach. The fishing village of Kilmore Quay (below) is within easy reach, being just 12km (8 miles) away. From here you can charter a fishing boat to go sea fishing, or just sample some of the catch in the local seafood restaurants.
If a golfing holiday is more your scene, there are a number of golf courses nearby, including: St Helens Bay Golf Club 10km (6 miles), Rosslare Golf Club 10km (6 miles), and Wexford Golf Club 15km (10 miles).
